Lengthy tailbacks formed on a major motorway on Thursday morning following a serious crash involving two lorries. The M3 eastbound in Surrey was shut between J3 Bagshot Interchange and J2 Thorpe Interchange on Thursday, 19 March, bringing traffic to a halt.
One of the lorries collided with a gantry following the incident, whilst the other suffered a ruptured fuel tank, leading to a significant spillage of diesel across the carriageway. National Highways said Surrey Police, Surrey Fire and Rescue, South East Coast Ambulance Service and its traffic officers and contractors are on scene.
