The developments come during the war between Iran, Israel and the United States. The conflict began on February 28 when the US and Israel launched widespread strikes. Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who had led Iran since 1989, was killed during the first wave of strikes.
The attacks have continued since, with travel disrupted for those stuck in the affected nations and for those planning overseas trips from the UK. It has prompted the FCDO to update its information to protect citizens in the UK and abroad.
Even countries not directly involved in the conflict are experiencing travel disruptions due to the airspace restrictions. However, some countries are on the ‘no-go’ list for entirely separate reasons.
Below is the latest advice as of March 10, listing over 70 countries and locations with some form of travel warning. The FCDO may advise against travelling to certain areas or issue a complete ‘no-go’ alert.

FCDO advises against all but essential travel
The Foreign Office claims that what is deemed « essential travel » is down to individual people. A spokesperson said: « Whether travel is essential or not is your own decision.
« You may have urgent family or business commitments which you need to attend to. Only you can make an informed decision based on your own individual circumstances and the risks. » The Foreign Office warned that travel insurance « could be invalidated » if people travel against FCDO advice.
