Jet2 chaos as ‘drunk’ Canary Islands passenger ‘held down’ | World | News

Jet2 passengers and airline staff were forced to restrain an alleged drunk man who began shouting about « the Lord Jesus » during a flight from Belfast to Fuerteventura, viral video footage has revealed. A video posted on TikTok captured the man screeching loudly from his seat and two passengers then attempting to calm him down. One person can be heard reminding him that he is « on a plane » as he continues his unintelligible outburst.

The footage showing the March 1 flight was posted two days after the incident. The user who took the video condemned what they described as “drunken behaviour.” They blasted the passenger for the outburst in front of children, with commenters suggesting he should be « banned from flying ».

The caption on the video read: « This is what happens when people drink themselves to oblivion. These crew members were outstanding.”

“This is not the half of it. These crew members went above and beyond to deal with this and these guys held him down”, the onlooker added.

A caption posted below suggested he had drunk himself « to oblivion » while praising staff. The chaotic incident on Jet2 flight LS307 lasted for around an hour, according to the video.

Many commenters suggested the disruptive passenger should be « banned from flying » following the incident.

The viral video has attracted hundreds of comments. One said: « All alcohol should be banned at airports and on flights. »

One user said: « Feel sorry for the children all alcohol should be banned on. »

However, some users opposed a blanket ban on alcohol during flights, arguing that responsible passengers should not have to suffer due to the actions of a few rowdy passengers.

« Absolutely awful to see this happen so often. I don’t think banning alcohol is the only solution. Maybe limit purchases – why should people who can be responsible be penalised for the minority? », said one.

Another added: « Absolutely awful to see this happen so often but I don’t think banning alcohol is the only solution.
