Prince William will likely be going on a very special trip overseas during his Easter holidays, according to reports. The Prince and Princess of Wales are expected to take a brief break from their royal duties and enjoy their Easter holidays with their loved ones next month, including their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who will be on a school break.
But reports have suggested that the future King will also take a short trip to Paris, France, in April to watch his favourite football team compete in the Champions League. William, who is an avid football fan and a big Aston Villa supporter, was spotted earlier this month in Birmingham cheering on his beloved club as they beat Club Brugge at Villa Park. It was the first time Villa have been in the Champions League and they are targeting the club’s first top-flight European trophy since they won the European Cup in 1982 – the year William was born.
As he left the match, the prince, who is patron of the Football Association, reportedly appeared to confirm his appearance in France.
He told journalists, « See you in Paris, » and walked to his car.
The club is now set to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals.
According to Hello!, William’s comments as well as a report by Get French Football News claiming that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has invited the prince to the game, the royal’s appearance in France is more likely.
Kensington Palace has been contacted for comment.
A day before the Birmingham match this month, the future King visited Aston Villa players at their training ground at Bodymoor Heath.
While there, the prince made various revelations about the sport, including who the « best footballer » is during an interview with the Sun.
During the interview, William revealed that he had previously injured himself while trying to Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous celebration in a kickaround in his back garden.
