Ian Huntley UPDATES: Soham murderer attacked in prison ‘with iron bar’ | UK | News

In August 2002, school caretaker Ian Huntley murdered 10-year-old friends Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire.

The girls had left a family barbecue to buy sweets when Huntley lured them into his home. He killed them and later disposed of their bodies in a ditch near RAF Lakenheath, around 12 miles away.

Their disappearance triggered a huge nationwide search involving police and local residents, and the case dominated national news coverage.

Huntley initially gave media interviews during the investigation, but suspicions grew and he was arrested days later.

In 2003 he was convicted of both murders and sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years.
