An investigation has been launched after at least four people were killed in a shooting at a migrant camp in France.
Two security staff and two migrants have died in the incident which took place at Loon-Plage, near Dunkirk, at about 3pm today.
A fifth victim has been found at Wormhout, about 16 miles from the camp. Police told French media they received reports of gunshots and an unconscious person about an hour before the Loon-Plage shooting.
Officers found a 29-year-old man who was shot several times, including in the head, France Info reports. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 22-year-old man, who is reportedly a French citizen, has handed himself to Ghyvelde police station over the incidents, CNews reports as France Bleu reports that three guns found were in his car.
According to the refugee charity Care4Calais, refugees have been camping in the Mardyck area for years.
They are mainly « Kurdish or Afghan and include many families with small children », the charity says.
