Foreign Office issues new travel advice for 21 countries – full list | UK | News

The Foreign Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice for certain countries amid the US-Israeli war with Iran and the growing instability in the Middle East. Brits in Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Lebanon, Palestine, Qatar, and the UAE should register their presence to receive the latest updates from the FCDO.

After the strikes on Iran began last Saturday, over 140,000 Brits have registered with the scheme, as many remain stuck due to closed airspace. Currently, the FCDO advises against all travel to Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, and Syria. There are also restrictions in place for certain regions of other countries.

For example, it’s not advised to travel within 5km of the entire eastern border between Armenia and Azerbaijan, or within 3km of the Jordanian border with Syria.

Elsewhere, the FCDO advises against all travel to within 10km of the Turkish border with Syria due to fighting and a heightened risk of terrorism.

It’s also not advised to travel to the UAE, where many Brits on holiday in Dubai remain stuck as airports closed following Iranian missile strikes. While the travel hubs are slowly starting to reopen, there remains heavily restricted air traffic.
