Family’s heartbreaking tribute to woman who died falling on pub stairs | UK | News

The family of a woman who tragically died after a fall at a pub have expressed their profound grief, stating she will be « missed more than words can describe ». Debra Hellon, affectionately known as Debbie, suffered a fatal accident on Saturday evening and passed away in hospital on Monday, January 27.

Despite the efforts of pub staff who administered CPR and called for an ambulance, Debbie, who worked in HR and was nearing retirement, did not survive her injuries sustained from the fall down the stairs. The 65-year-old from Irby in Wirral had been eagerly anticipating her retirement to enjoy more time with loved ones.

Her passing leaves behind a devastated family including her mother Pauline, sons Adam and Craig, partner Dave, brother Neil, and grandchildren. A family member paid heartfelt tribute, saying: « We’re in pieces about it. She was the most loving, kind-hearted woman I’ve ever met. She was so funny and welcoming. Debbie was the best mum to her kids and so loving to her grandkids. She was always there if you needed a chat. »

In a heartfelt tribute, the family of Debbie expressed their profound gratitude towards those who endeavoured to save her life. Their statement solemnly noted: « We would like to thank the staff at Thomas Rigby’s, the couple who carried out first aid, the ambulance service and especially Sandra, Ailsa and Emily from the critical care unit at Aintree Hospital, who helped and cared for Debbie in her final days. Rest in peace, the lovely Debs. You will be missed more than words can describe. Love you millions. »

Meanwhile, Market Town Taverns, the proprietor of Thomas Rigby’s pub, confirmed that employees acted swiftly to call the ambulance service and administer CPR until the emergency services took over, reports Liverpool Echo.

A spokesperson for the pub company conveyed their « deepest sympathy » to Debbie’s circle, stating in sentiments shared with the ECHO: « On learning of the situation, our staff immediately called the ambulance and performed CPR until medics arrived. We were saddened to learn that the lady later died in hospital and all our staff send their condolences and deepest sympathy to her family and friends. »

Details remain scant on the « local authority investigation » mentioned by the pub into the incident, as Liverpool City Council has yet to provide confirmation.
