The Formula 1 season is almost upon us, with the opening race set to take place in Melbourne. This year’s curtain-raiser comes with several major changes being introduced across the grid.

In the build‑up to the Grand Prix, Valtteri Bottas has already been handed a grid penalty as he returns to the sport with Cadillac. He is serving a five-place drop carried over from the 2024 season after he collided with Kevin Magnussen in Abu Dhabi.

While Max Verstappen had a dramatic off-track excursion during FP2 for the Australian Grand Prix, when his RB22 went wide on the outside of Turn 12 at Albert Park.

And Aston Martin team principal Adrian Newey has revealed his team finds itself in a critical position, as it has already eaten through half of its battery allocation at the Australian Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton has warned that the season ahead will be the biggest test drivers have ever faced. « It will be the most challenging it’s ever been in the sport, for sure, » he said. « It’s always challenging.

« You have little changes, but this one in particular is far bigger than at least the five that I’ve been through. Each weekend you’re learning more. You’ll be faced with different challenges depending on the characteristics of the circuit, which I think is fine. »
