Princess Beatrice’s family are in for a special day today as her youngest daughter will be christened. Athena Mapelli Mozzi, who was born earlier this year in January, will be christened at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.
Close family members and friends will be present at the special event, which will be held in complete privacy. It is believed that no photographs of the event will be made public.
Here is everything we know about the christening today…
Family members set to attend, including Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson
As Athena’s grandparents, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson will be in attendance at the christening today. Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice’s sister, is also expected to attend the event with her own family.
It is believed Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have invited senior royals to attend the christening, including the King and Queen, but it is unclear as to whether they will attend.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are also believed to have been invited.
The christening is being held at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace.
The chapel is one that has been used for years for various royal events, with other royals to be christened there including Prince George and Prince Louis.
Royal weddings have also been held at the chapel before, including that of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on February 10, 1840.
Princess Beatrice was also christened at the Palace.
Although not officially announced, it is believed one of Athena’s godmothers has already been confirmed.
As reported by Tatler, it is believed Princess Nina of Greece and Denmark – who is a close friend of Beatrice – will be a godmother to Athena.
However, Beatrice and her husband have not officially commented on this.
