Netflix is constantly renewing their roster to offer the newest, most exciting releases of each year – and unfortunately, that sometimes means getting rid of some gems to make space for more content.
With several well-known films and series already leaving the platform, such as Mission: Impossible, The Blue Lagoon, and World War Z, we highlight some of the titles that will be departing between now and early January 2026.

December 19
No Country for Old Men (2007)
A neo-western crime thriller based on Cormac McCarthy’s novel, No Country for Old Men, won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director – for the Coen Brothers – and Best Supporting Actor – for Javier Bardem.

Transformers Series
The long-running action franchise is being entirely removed from Netflix. It features the battle between Autobots and Decepticons and is known for its ambitious visual effects and major box office success across decades.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)
One of the world’s most beloved romantic comedies, this is a modern teen adaptation of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. The film helped launch the careers of stars like Julia Stiles and the late Heath Ledger and birthed iconic quotes and scenes that are remembered to this day.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trilogy
The Harry Potter prequel series follows magizoologist Newt Scamander and received multiple BAFTA and Academy Award nominations, especially for visual effects and design.

Like its successor saga, the Harry Potter series is also set to leave Netflix. The eight films are based on the best-selling books and earned several Oscar nominations as well as cult status and a devoted following worldwide.
Friends (10 seasons)
All ten seasons of the award-winning American sitcom will be gone by the new year. The show, which follows a group of six friends living in New York City, is a cultural benchmark and won multiple accolades throughout its nine-year run, including an Emmy. It is to this day one of the most-streamed shows on earth.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023)
A prequel to the events depicted in The Hunger Games saga, this 2023 film reveals the origins and early life of antagonist President Snow. It was a highly anticipated follow-up to the acclaimed series, which concluded in 2015.
Matilda (1996)
This beloved family comedy, based on Roald Dahl’s novel, is renowned for its enduring appeal and numerous readaptations. Danny DeVito directs the 1996 version, which has become a classic of children’s cinema.
Split (2016)
A psychological thriller that marked its decade, M. Night Shyamalan’s Split centred on James McAvoy as a man with multiple personalities – some of which were dangerous and terrifying. McAvoy’s performance was praised at the time, and the film was a commercial success.

Jaws (1975)
A true turning point in cinema, Steven Spielberg‘s Jaws is an iconic thriller about a giant great white shark that starts terrorising a seaside town, leading to an exciting hunting mission. The film won three Academy Awards and is arguably one of the most influential pieces of media ever released.
Mad Men (7 seasons)
This acclaimed show followed 1960s executive Don Draper around the busy and dramatic world of Madison Avenue’s advertising industry. It won no less than sixteen Emmy Awards and five Golden Globes.
Suits (9 seasons)
This legal drama centres around a college dropout who becomes a top law firm associate. The series is known for its sharp dialogue but also for being responsible for Meghan Markle‘s shoot to fame.
January 4
Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011)
This romantic comedy stars an ensemble cast featuring Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Joey King, Marisa Tomei, and Lio Tipton. It is mainly noted for Gosling’s Golden Globe nomination and a strong box-office performance.
