‘Epic’ mystery film based on Agatha Christie’s ‘masterpiece’ novel is streaming on Disney | Films | Entertainment

Fans of classic murder mysteries often look for films that have plenty of glamour, suspense and a clever storyline. And there is one big-screen adaptation in particular that has been getting a lot of attention, with viewers calling it exciting, beautifully made and one of the best versions of a famous Agatha Christie tale

Many say it captures everything they want from a traditional whodunnit, from the exotic setting to the dramatic final reveal. The film has earned strong audience scores and continues to pick up praise from Christie fans around the world. It is stylish, tense and packed with memorable performances.

It currently holds an 82 percent audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has been described as both thrilling and satisfying by those who enjoy classic detective stories.

The film in question is Death on the Nile.

The 2022 film is directed by Kenneth Branagh, who also stars as Hercule Poirot. 

It is based on Christie’s 1937 novel and acts as a sequel to Murder on the Orient Express (2017). 

The cast features Gal Gadot, Armie Hammer, Annette Bening, Tom Bateman, Russell Brand, Ali Fazal, Dawn French, Rose Leslie, Emma Mackey, Sophie Okonedo, Jennifer Saunders and Letitia Wright.

The film was released in cinemas in February 2022 after several delays caused by the pandemic.

It went on to earn more than $137 million at the global box office. A follow-up, A Haunting in Venice, arrived in 2023.

Although the story is set in Egypt, filming took place almost entirely in England

A full recreation of the riverboat was built at Longcross Studios in Surrey, along with large sets representing locations such as Abu Simbel. 

Designers also created a replica of the famous Tiffany Yellow Diamond for the production.

Death on the Nile is now streaming on Disney+.
