Emma Raducanu learns fate ahead of fast turnaround after coach split | Tennis | Sport

Emma Raducanu will take on Greet Minnen in the first round of the Transylvania Open, in what will be her first competitive outing since her split with coach Francisco Roig

The Brit announced the split from her ninth coach on Thursday, following her exit from the Australian Open. She is now on the lookout for the 10th coach in her career.

The Trasyvania Open in Romania, which starts on February 1st will see Raducanu joined by former British professional player Alexis Canter as coach.

Announcing the split on social media, Raducanu wrote: « Francis, Thank you for our time together.

« You have been more than a coach to me and I will cherish the many good times we spent together on and off the court.

« While we have come to the conclusion together that we ought not to move forward, please know that I am very grateful for all you have taught me and fond of our time shared. »

The game against Minnen will take place on Sunday at around 9am UK Time on Sunday, 1 February. The two players have faced each other on one previous occasion, with Raducanu coming out as 7-6, 6-2 winner back in 2018.

Raducanu is number one seed for the tournament. Minnen is currently ranked at 123 in the world, compared in Raducanu’s 29.

following the tournament in Romania, Raducanu will head to the Middle East for the WTA 1000 tournaments in Doha (February 8-14 and Dubai (February 16-22). She will then compete at Indian Wells and the Miami Open in March.
