Eccles fire: Firefighters cordon off quiet residential street as blaze erupts | UK | News

A fire erupted in a quiet residential street in Eccles on Monday. Firefighters rushed to Chadwick Road at around 7pm on March 30 following reports of a blaze.

After multiple crews reached the area, the residential street was cordoned off at the junction with Mather Avenue. The blaze had erupted at a « derelict building », Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said.

Fire crews remained in attendance for over an hour to dampen the flames.

It is not yet clear what caused the fire, and a probe into its origin has now been launched, the MEN reports.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 7pm on Monday 30 March, three fire engines from Stretford, Agecroft and Eccles fire stations were called to attend a derelict building fire on Chadwick Road, Eccles.

“Crews arrived quickly and used one hose reel, two breathing apparatus and other specialist equipment to extinguish the fire.

« Firefighters made the area safe before departing after approximately one hour and 10 minutes at the scene.”
