As Dubai continues to be rocked by explosions from Iranian missiles, Dubai International Airport (DXB), the world’s busiest airport by international passenger traffic as of 2024, has been massively affected. Flight tracking data from FlightRadar24 has revealed that as of 8am Gulf Standard Time (GMT+4), an incredible 206 arrivals into the UAE city were cancelled from across the globe, sparking travel chaos for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people.
Aviation giant Emirates, based in Dubai and operating its main hub at Terminal 3 of the airport, axed all flights in and out of the city on Saturday (February 28). According to the latest travel information on the airline’s website, « all scheduled Emirates flights to and from Dubai remain suspended until 2359hrs UAE time on March 7, due to airspace closures across the region ». It added that it continues to operate « a limited flight schedule », and is « accommodating customers with earlier bookings as a priority » on these flights.
Emirates is urging customers not to go to the airport unless they have been notified directly by the airline or hold a confirmed flight booking.

According to FlightRadar24, as of 8am local time, a total of 105 Emirates flights were cancelled on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Emirati government-owned airline, Flydubai, also based in Dubai and operating out of Terminal 2, cancelled a total of 35 flights, from Riyadh, Istanbul, Colombo, Doha, Dhaka, Baku and others. The airline joined a number of other airlines, including Etihad, Qatar Airways and Middle Eastern to launch a limited number of outbound flights on March 2.
