Donald Trump’s niece has suggested that her famous uncle may be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease after spotting a worrying expression.
A vocal critic of her uncle, who is often the subject of the videos on her YouTube channel, Mary Trump, indicated that he may have the degenerative health condition due to his bearing a resemblance to her late grandfather.
Mary claimed that she saw glimpses of the US President of real estate mogul Fred Trump, Donald’s late father, who suffered from Alzheimer’s before he died more than 25 years ago in 1999, aged 93. Speaking last year, Mary detailed what it was like to witness her grandfather’s decline and alleged that Donald does not appear to be « oriented », highlighting a specific expression of his.
Addressing her grandfather, she told New York Magazine: « One of the first times I noticed it was at some event where he was being honored. And I looked at him and saw this deer-in-the-headlights look, like he had no idea where he was. »

In further comments, Mary described how she now sees what the publication described as « flashes » of him in her uncle when she watches him on stage, noting he also bears the « deer-in-the-headlights » look.
She added: « Sometimes it does not seem like he’s oriented to time and place. And on occasion, I do see that deer-in-the-headlights look. »
Meanwhile, the controversial US President refutes such claims, previously saying that he « aced » three cognitive tests, and also denied that he may have Alzheimer’s disease.
In an interview with the publication, Trump spoke about his father’s diagnosis: « He had one problem. At a certain age, about 86, 87, he started getting, what do they call it? »
It would be Karoline Leavitt, his press secretary, who would find the term for Trump, who, describing it as an « Alzheimer’s thing », declared that he did not « have it. »

The 79-year-old’s health has been the subject of much speculation in recent times, with observers pointing to bruises on his hand, seemingly swollen ankles, and ramblings, among other things.
In October last year, however, reports emerged that the US President had received a « routine yearly checkup » at the Walter Reed Medical Centre in Bethesda, Maryland.
His doctor, Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, stated in a one-page memo: « President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance. »
Alzheimer’s is the UK’s most common cause of dementia, according to the NHS, which explains that dementia is a term referring to a group of symptoms linked to an ongoing decline in brain function.
An early sign of the condition is often memory issues, but as Alzheimer’s develops, people can display symptoms such as confusion, disorientation, problems with language and speech, and changes in behaviour.
