Donald Trump’s niece has again expressed her concern that the POTUS is suffering from dementia after spotting a worrying family trait that affected her grandfather. Mary Trump, who is outspoken in her criticism of her controversial uncle and often discusses him on her YouTube channel, has suggested that the US President is dealing with « some kind of cognitive issues. »
In a recent chat with Thom Hartmann for Mary Trump Media, the US radio personality raised the subject of whether Trump may be « experiencing dementia, » referring to Mary’s suggestion last month that Donald could be suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. He also invited her to address what he described as a « persistent rumour » – namely, that bruising observed on the back of Trump’s hands indicates he is receiving a « major anti-Alzheimer’s drug » administered via « infusion into the back of the hand ».
Fred Trump, Donald’s father and Mary’s late grandfather, suffered from Alzheimer’s prior to his death more than 25 years ago in 1999, aged 93. Mary’s father was Fred Trump jr, who was the president’s older brother.

In her response, Mary alluded to what she described as a « genetic component » to the degenerative health condition and highlighted how her grandfather did indeed « have Alzheimer’s ».
Fred reportedly started displaying signs of the condition in his late 70s, pointing out that Donald is 79. She said « part of the reason » she believes it’s likely he’s experiencing « some kind of cognitive issues » is due to « what other people are saying ».
Mary, a psychologist, said: « You know, medical doctors who do understand that you don’t just get an MRI for fun and that an MRI coupled with repeated cognitive assessments typically means that doctors are concerned that there may be some issues going on cognitively.
« And then of course, you know, we can see what’s going on with our own eyes, whether or not the Trump regime is willing to believe or allow us to believe our own eyes. He is suffering from bouts of aphasia.
« He is sleeping during the day. That’s a bad sign. He sometimes, and this just from my own personal experience with my grandfather, causes a great deal of alarm. »

She added: « He often gets the same deer-in-the-headlines look where he seems not to know where he is or who he’s with. So there’s plenty of evidence to suggest that he is in all sorts of decline physically, psychologically, and cognitively. »
Her comments will likely be familiar to anyone who read her June 2025 interview with New York Magazine.
In the piece, she shed light on what it was like to witness her grandfather’s decline and claimed Donald did not seem to be « oriented », again noting the alleged « deer-in-the-headlights look ».
She said: « One of the first times I noticed it was at some event where he was being honoured. And I looked at him and saw this deer-in-the-headlights look, like he had no idea where he was. »
Mary added that she sees what the outlet described as « flashes » of him in her uncle when she sees him on stage, claiming that the president also exhibits the « deer-in-the-headlights » look.
She added: « Sometimes it does not seem like he’s oriented to time and place. And on occasion, I do see that deer-in-the-headlights look. »
Donald Trump has denied such allegations, previously claiming that he had « aced » three cognitive tests, and also refuted that he might have Alzheimer’s.
