The time of Donald Trump‘s highly-anticipated phone call with Vladimir Putin has been revealed as the pair prepare to discuss peace in Ukraine. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the two leaders would speak between 4pm and 6pm Moscow time for « as long as they deem necessary », according to a post on Telegram. This is between 1pm and 3pm UK time. Just one day before the presidents’ meeting, a leading Russian TV propagandist warned that British and French troops would face death if they are deployed to Ukraine.
Vladimir Solovyov raged: « You can station them wherever you want. We will kill you all, and we will kill you all just as we killed all of you who came to Kursk [region] and did not have time to run away or surrender. We will kill you all. » This echoed the sentiment senior Russian security council official Dmitry Medvedev, who predicted World War Three if Sir Keir Starmer and Emmanuel Macron deploy troops from their proposed « coalition of the willing » in Ukraine.
Solovyov – whose propaganda is choreographed with the Kremlin – ranted that Russians could march across Europe and storm Macron’s capital.
He said: « If necessary, we will enter Paris. We have no experience of entering London, by the way. »
Mr Trump said he has already agreed on « many elements » of a Ukraine ceasefire ahead of his call with Vladimir Putin. However, he added that « much remains » to be discussed.
The president wrote on his platform Truth Social: « Tomorrow morning I will be speaking to President Putin concerning the War in Ukraine. Many elements of a Final Agreement have been agreed to, but much remains.
« Thousands of young soldiers, and others, are being killed. Each week brings 2,500 soldier deaths, from both sides, and it must end NOW. I look very much forward to the call with President Putin. »
He also told reporters on Monday: « It’s a bad situation in Russia, and it’s a bad situation in Ukraine. What’s happening in Ukraine is not good, but we’re going to see if we can work a peace agreement, a ceasefire and peace. And I think we’ll be able to do it. »
The US president said Washington and Moscow have already begun discussing « dividing up certain assets » between Ukraine and Russia as part of a deal to end the conflict, in an ominous warning to Kyiv.
White House special envoy Steve Witkoff met with Putin in Moscow last week in preparation for today’s call, while Secretary of State Marco Rubio persuaded senior Ukrainian officials to agree to the ceasefire framework during talks in Saudi Arabia.
