Terry Jenkins may have earned millions during his darts career but that didn’t stop him from quitting in order to become an antiques dealer. Nicknamed ‘The Bull’, the 62-year-old reached nine PDC major finals during his 15-year stint on the tour while earning £1,356,973 throughout his career.
Jenkins – who has 16 titles to his name – opted to call time on his darts job in 2018, citing his lack of enjoyment with the sport given the constant travel and being away from his family. In quite the twist of his post-sporting life, Jenkins has found solace and success in the antiques game.
Discussing the slog of daily life on the PDC Tour, Jenkins said on the Tungsten Talk podcast: « I was travelling around on my own all the time and it is no fun being in an airport sat there on your own for hours on end. In the end, we were going to Barnsley and Wigan every weekend, and I just got bored of it, I think. I thought I need to pack it in and go back to doing my wheeling and dealing. »
Admitting he sees it more of a « hobby » rather than an actual job, Jenkins said the spontaneity that comes with unearthing potential gems is fun he’s been able to share with his son. He added: « We’re wheeling and dealing all the time, me and my lad. It’s good fun, really. I don’t treat it as a job – it’s more of a hobby.
« It’s not like an office job where you go in and it’s a chore every day. What we do is a bit of fun. You never know what’s going to happen from day to day. These days it’s good, clean, modern furniture – that’s what people want. You never know what you’re going to find. »

While there have been times where a profit hasn’t been turned, he’s been able to bank a pretty penny through some unique finds. He told Modus Super Series Darts: « There are a few things really, we have had some good buys and things we’re we didn’t make much on. I bought a lamp once for £25 and we put it into auction and it made something like £2,200. There are a few items that we have done well on. »
Jenkins hasn’t completely walked away from darts as he still sometimes plays for the ADC and has been able to combine his two careers by gifting bargains he found to fellow darts players. He revealed: « I got a tractor seat once for Paul Nicholson, with his name on it, Nicholson. I bought that for him. I get the odd little bits now and again for people.
« Peter Manley, I bought a nice China Flamingo, which was quite a good one. I told him that as well. It cost me about a tenner in a car boot sale, but it was worth about £400. But I gave it to him and he didn’t believe me. He googled it and then found out it was worth quite a lot of money. It was a nicer one, I think. »
