A Lamborghini said to belong to a Labour councillor has been pictured parked in a disabled space at council offices without a blue badge appearing to be on display. A photo shows the blue Lamborghini Urus SE SUV at Hounslow House civic centre in West London.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service (LDRS) reports that the vehicle belongs to Farhaan Rehman, a Labour councillor who represents the Hounslow Heath ward. Mr Rehman has been approached for comment.
The luxury SUV, which costs in excess of £200,000, parked in two different disabled spaces owned and managed by Hounslow Council.
In response, Hounslow told the LDRS the issue was a matter for the local Labour Party, according to MyLondon. This is despite such alleged parking infringements usually being an issue for the local authority, with fines up to £160.
Hounslow Labour’s reported investigation comes just a week after the LDRS revealed Hounslow Council had fined mental health nurse, Loretta Alvarez, £1,000 for « fly-tipping » an envelope when her council bins were full.
She told the LDRS that if Cllr Rehman had parked in the bays himself without a blue badge it would make her feel as if elected officials were hypocrites.
The single mum said: « It [would make] you think, there clearly is a hierarchy. [It would make me feel that] he thinks he can get away with it, and probably can because he’s a councillor. But me, a normal person, getting on, paying my bills, I’d have to pay that. »
Conservative councillor Jack Emsley told the LDRS Mr Rehman should be deselected as a Labour candidate ahead of the 2026 local elections if he is found to have broken parking rules.
He said: « Given the misery Hounslow Labour have caused residents in Chiswick, where they have raked in millions of pounds from PCNs for parking and traffic offences, I expect they will take a similar zero-tolerance approach to Cllr Rehman and dump him as a Labour candidate in next year’s elections [if they find he is at fault].
« Anything less would be an appalling double standard of one rule for Hounslow Labour councillors and another for everyone else. »
