British nationals in Dubai have been urged to do one thing amid escalating tensions across the Middle East. Israel and the US launched attacks on Iran on February 28, 2026 and in retaliation, Iran has carried out multiple attacks on Israel, US military bases across the Middle East, as well as UK bases in Bahrain, Qatar and Cyprus.
The Foreign Office has therefore issued strict instructions for Brits in the United Arab Emirates, including one simple task that will help keep people safe.
It said that British nationals should sign up to FCDO Travel Advice alerts. This will allow Brits to keep up with any new information or advice issued by the Foreign Office as the situation escalates.
The governmental department has also requested that Brits register their presence to inform the UK government that they are currently in the UAE.
In order to register your presence, you will need your email address and a mobile phone number you can access, so you can be sent updates and contacted in emergencies, and your UK passport number.

Thousands of passengers were also left stranded in the UAE as flights were cancelled over the weekend. It has been reported that some flights have left the country; however, many travellers remain stuck.
Passengers due to fly with Emirates from Dubai have been told the airline will begin operating a limited number of flights on Monday evening. Priority will be given to those who had earlier bookings cancelled.
Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander, who has been in contact with airlines, said: “The UK’s immediate priority is the safety of UK nationals in the Middle East, but I also realise how stressful the situation is for travellers facing delays and disruption.
