Police have found the body of who they believe is a missing student almost one month since he was last seen running down an eerie road.
Leicestershire Police said in a statement on Thursday, December 18, that the body they believe is of Loughborough student Aryan Sharma had been found following a search of a river.
Sharma was last seen on CCTV footage in Meadow Lane, on the outskirts of Loughborough, at around 12.30am on Saturday, November 22. The 20-year-old had left his accommodation at around 9.30pm and was walking towards Stanford-on-the-Soar before he vanished.
Officers from the Tactical Support Team and the National Police Air Service were deployed after a report that a body was seen in the River Soar in Normanton on Soar on the evening of Sunday, December 14.
« Although formal identification is yet to take place, it is believed to be Aryan, » Leicestershire Police said.
Specialist officers are continuing to provide support to Sharma’s family, who have asked for privacy.
A file will be prepared for HM Coroner, police said.
