Black Sabbath reunion with Bill Ward announced for Ozzy Osbourne’s final concert | Music | Entertainment

It’s been 8 years since Black Sabbath performed what was thought to be their last show in Birmingham, where the band started way back in 1968.

Yet it was always a bittersweet end as Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, and Geezer Butler said their farewell without original drummer Bill Ward.

Now, twenty years after their last performance as a four-piece, the metal band is getting back together for one last concert. Black Sabbath will headline Back to the Beginning at Villa Park, Birmingham on July 5 this Summer.

The epic one-off charity show in aid of Cure Parkinson’s Birmingham, Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice will see Ozzy perform a short solo set before Black Sabbath join him on stage for his final show before retirement.

The 76-year-old has had a string of health problems in recent years that forced him to cancel part of his last solo tour.

In a statement, Ozzy said: “It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born. How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”

The epic heavy metal concert will also include sets from Metallica, Slayer and more.

Tickets go on sale at 10am GMT on Friday February 14, 2025 here.
