Beautiful UK island where Prince William is planning to take Kate on holiday | Royal | News

While members of the Royal Family are extremely well-travelled and have the ability to jet off to most places across the world, it appears that sometimes there is just no place like home when choosing where to spend a few days away.

According to reports, Prince William is hoping to take Princess Kate away next year for a romantic break following what has been a “brutal” year for his wife after her cancer diagnosis.

Although Kate, 42, has not ventured abroad this year, the fact she has now finished chemotherapy and is recovering well means a short break away for the pair could be on the cards within the next few months.

While the Prince of Wales hinted that foreign royal tours may be on the cards next year, when it comes to a private trip, the future king is reportedly eyeing up a trip to the Isles of Scilly, just off the coast of Cornwall.

An insider told Bella magazine that William « wants to create memories with Kate so he’s planning a romantic getaway to the Isles of Scilly – one of their favourite places to escape for some quiet time together ».

As well as having the advantage of not being too far from mainland UK, the prince also has his own holiday home on the largest of the isles at St Mary’s called Tamarisk House.

Owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, the private home is likely to be a great place for the parents to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of their usual life, with the isle known for its stretches of deserted white sandy beaches and dramatic rocky coves.

St Mary’s is also renowned for its great nature, something Princess Kate has said is important to her over the last year as she underwent treatment following her cancer diagnosis.

According to Visit Isles of Scilly, St Mary’s has the advantage of both beautiful coastal and countryside spots, with a number of archaeological sites, beautiful walks and nature trails to explore.

The island, which covers an area a little more than 6 square miles, also has plenty of restaurants and pubs, offering the perfect opportunity for the couple to spend some time living a more ordinary life to the one they experience day to day.

As well as this, if the couple fancy being sporty – something they are both known to be competitive at – they can visit the sailing centre where they can partake in windsurfing, sailing, powerboating and kayaking. Boat trips are also available for the couple to enjoy, something they reportedly did when visiting the nearby Tresco Island back in 2020 with their three children.

At the time, a holidaymaker who spotted the Waleses told the Sun: « We hardly noticed at first as they seemed a normal family on holiday intent on keeping themselves to themselves. The place where they were staying was quite modest and certainly not hugely luxurious. »

It is not yet known exactly when William is planning to take his wife on the trip, or whether the George, Charlotte and Louis are set to accompany them.
