Congestion on the M6 southbound has been downgraded to ‘minor’ by the National Highways as traffic eases.
Delays around junction 24 had fallen to 10 minutes but the agency has now removed this advisory to motorists.
Instead, it is now warning of just congestion on the southbound exit slip road at junction 23.
« Normal traffic conditions are expected between 09:45 and 10:00, » it says.
There was heavy traffic on the carriageway during rush hour after a crash.
The incident, which saw three out of four lanes closed, was later cleared with all lanes open.
