The Russian father, characterised by neighbours as a decent man and a dedicated parent, dispensed his own form of justice upon learning his closest friend had sexually assaulted his six-year-old daughter.

Vyacheslav Matrosov, 34, was out drinking with his closest friend Oleg Sviridov, 32, in the Samara region of Russia when he made a horrifying discovery on Sviridov’s phone.

Scrolling through his mate’s photo gallery, he uncovered footage of him raping a young girl. More disturbingly, Matrosov recognised the girl was his own daughter.

« Oleg that’s enough, » she can be heard pleading, « I can’t take it anymore. I want to go home. »

Matrosov frequently trusted Sviridov, who he had faith in, to look after his daughter while he was at work. However, he now understood his friend’s genuine, sinister nature, reports the Daily Star.

The factory worker subsequently presented his friend with an ultimatum – admit his offences to the notoriously harsh Russian authorities or face retribution at Matrosov’s own hands.

Sviridov never admitted his crimes to the authorities and disappeared shortly after his appalling actions emerged. Relatives informed police the last occasion they had seen the child rapist, he appeared heavily bruised, as though he had been assaulted.

His injured body was discovered a week later in a shallow grave he had been forced to dig himself and authorities charged Matrosov with the murder.

Matrosov initially claimed the abuser had stumbled onto a knife during a heated argument, before later changing his account, stating he had « coerced » Sviridov into taking his own life after compelling him to dig his own grave.

His detention sparked a considerable wave of public backing. Some 2,500 local villagers signed a petition calling for his acquittal, which read: « Every father would have done the same. »

Prominent Russian television personality Kasenia Sobchak also publicly voiced support, declaring: « All parents are standing up for the paedophile’s killer. »

In response, the Krasnoglinksy Court in Samara reduced the murder charge to the lesser offence of « encouraging » suicide, which carries an 18-month sentence. The vigilante ultimately served 12 months before being freed.

Upon his return to society, Matrosov posted a photograph on social media with the caption: « Home. Love very much. »

Central to Matrosov’s reduced sentence was the unearthing of numerous videos depicting Sviridov violently assaulting young girls in the village.

Among his other victims was the 11-year-old daughter of Sviridov’s former girlfriend.

Locals hailed Matrosov as a hero for « saving our children by ridding us of a child sex attacker. »
