Charles will then travel to Bermuda alone. Officials had not announced the exact dates or length of the visit due to security concerns. However, in a post on his Truth Social account, Mr Trump has revealed when the King and Queen will visit the US. This will include a « beautiful » banquet dinner at the White House on April 28, which the US President said will be a « momentous occasion ».
He wrote: « Melania and I are pleased to announce that Their Majesties, the King and Queen of the United Kingdom, will visit the United States for a Historic State Visit from April 27-30th, which will include a beautiful Banquet Dinner at the White House on the evening of April 28th.
« This momentous occasion will be even more special this year, as we commemorate the 250th Anniversary of our Great Country. I look forward to spending time with the King, whom I greatly respect. It will be TERRIFIC! »
The King and Queen will undertake the state visit to mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence before Charles travels to Bermuda alone.
Charles has also been asked to address both houses of the US Congress, the first time a British monarch has done so in over 30 years.
Queen Elizabeth II was the last British monarch to speak in Washington DC in 1991, during a 12-day state visit as a guest of President George HW Bush.
They are also expected to visit New York, but Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm this.
He visited the US 19 times as Prince of Wales, including with the then-Duchess of Cornwall on their first official tour in 2005 following their wedding.
