Emergency services have swarmed a retail park in the UK city after a huge « explosion ». Members of the public reported hearing a loud bang across the Bolton Woods and Frizinghall areas in Bradford at around 10am on Sunday, March 29. A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service fire engine was soon seen in the car park of the Costa Coffee shop in Stanley Road, off Canal Road.
Figtherfighters attended to a badly damaged parked car, which had its sides crumpled and shattered glass on the ground around it. The Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) also dispatched a rapid response unit and an ambulance. They confirmed one person was taken to hospital.
A member of the public said they heard a « huge explosion » and saw people « in shock » after getting out of the car. They said: « I was sat having my morning coffee when I heard this huge explosion.
« I presumed it was a crash, but when I looked there was nothing obvious until a fire engine parked up in the Costa car park and the crew began inspecting a car.
« It looked like the occupants were alright thankfully but seemed in shock and were checked over by the ambulance team. »
