British heavyweight Moses Itauma will face American veteran Jermaine Franklin this weekend for their rearranged bout. The boxers will meet at Manchester’s Co-op Live on Saturday (March 28) as the headline act of the Magnificent 7 card, and fans can order the fight now.
The clash was initially scheduled for January but was postponed when Itauma sustained a last-minute bicep injury. Itauma, 21, enters the fight on an unblemished record of 13-0 (11 KOs), with his previous bout lasting fewer than two minutes when he delivered a devastating knockout blow to Dillian Whyte in the opening round.
Following the fight, Queensberry founder Frank Warren proclaimed Itauma ‘the best talent I’ve seen at such a young age. » Speaking to The Ring, he said: « I’ve been in this sport for many, many years, and to be honest, a 20 year old fighter at this level – 13 fights – is the best at this stage of his career I’ve ever been involved with, without a doubt. »
Nevertheless, this weekend he will face a formidable opponent in seasoned fighter Franklin, 32, who holds an impressive record of 24-2 (15 KOs). Boxing fans will recall Franklin went toe-to-toe in all 12 rounds with Anthony Joshua in 2023, before ultimately losing on points.
