Everything you need to know on why an angry Max Verstappen kicked a journalist out of his press conference
- Max Verstappen sensationally kicked a journalist out of his pre-Japanese Grand Prix press conference, having been left far from impressed by a question he was asked by that same reporter in Abu Dhabi last season.
- The Red Bull driver lost the title by two points and was asked by the journalist after the final race if he regretted an incident with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix that cost him nine points.
- Verstappen said in response: « You forget all the other stuff that happened in my season. The only thing you mention is Barcelona. I knew that would come. You’re giving me a stupid grin now. »
- He continued: « I don’t know. Yeah, it’s part of racing in the end. You live and learn. The championship is one of 24 rounds. I’ve also had a lot of early Christmas presents given to me in the second half, so you can also question that. »
- Upon entering the room for his latest press conference, Verstappen, speaking about the journalist, said: « I’m not speaking before he leaves. »
- The reporter in question replied « Seriously? » Verstappen then stated in response: « Yeah. »
- He then referenced the above incident, stating: « Because of the question last year? You want me to leave? It’s just the question I asked you in Abu Dhabi? About Spain? »
- Verstappen snapped back: « Get out. »
- The journalist replied: « You’re really that upset about it? » To which Verstappen responded: « Yeah, get out. »
- Once the reporter had left, Verstappen was much calmer and told the other journalists: « Now we can start. »
