A horror crash on the M65 involving « at least seven vehicles » has seen a large stretch of the busy motorway closed, with 60 minute delays and up to six miles of traffic.
All emergency services have rushed to the scene on the westbound carriageway at J3 for Blackburn West/Wheelton. Traffic is now being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads. National Highways North West wrote on X: « The #M65 in #Lancashire is CLOSED westbound within J3 (#BrimmicroftInterchange near #Blackburn) due to a collision involving at least 7 vehicles. All emergency services are on scene. Traffic is being diverted via the exit & entry slip roads. 60 min delay and 6 miles of congestion. »
