Police have arrested a 63-year-old man following an incident which reportedly involved two Premier League players intervening to stop an alleged racially motivated assault.
The two players, who play for Brentford, are said to have rushed to help the man at around 2am on Sunday morning after making their way back from their Premier League clash with Leeds United.
The Metropolitan police have now confirmed that a 63-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of common assault, attempted criminal damage and a racially aggravated public order offence. He has been released on bail.
It is added that further inquiries by the police have identified an alleged second victim who had been the subject of verbal, racially aggravated abuse.
The Telegraph report that neither of the Brentford players suffered serious injuries from the incident, but were left bloodied.

The Brentford players had made their own way back from Leeds on Saturday evening, following the 0-0 draw. The international break means that members of the squad were given permission to make their own travel arrangements back from the game.
The draw means that Brentford sit in seventh place in the Premier League table, but are just three points behind Liverpool in fifth place, which could again be enough to qualify for Champions League football next season.
After the international break, the Bees are back in action on Saturday, 11 April, when they host Everton at the G-Tech Community Stadium. The game could be a big one in the race for Europe with Brentford and Everton only separated in the table by goal difference.
The Toffees are alongside Brentford with 46 points, but their +2 goal difference is two worse than Brentford’s +4.
