William’s telling reaction after Andrew and Beatrice ‘scolded’ late Queen | Royal | News

As well as the then-Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Andrew and Beatrice, Zara and Mike Tindall and Prince Harry were also pictured at the annual Easter Sunday service. Although their fellow royals curtsied to the late Queen, Andrew chose to refer to his mother as « difficult » whilst Beatrice chose against the traditional royal greeting.

According to lip reading expert Nicola Hickling, as the Queen walked past Andrew into the chapel, he told her: « Although it is your birthday, you can be quite difficult you know ».

Ms Hickling added that Beatrice appeared to « giggle » at Andrew’s comment, whilst Prince William « was briefly seen sucking his teeth while watching the exchange ».

After Princess Anne was seen making a remark to her brother, Andrew apparently replied: « She mustn’t be so difficult, Anne. »

To which, agreeing with her father, Beatrice appeared to mutter quietly: « So difficult ».

It has been reported that William has distanced himself from Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie, due to their parents’ connection to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Despite their reported closeness as children, reports indicate that he is « not close » to them.

He said: « In the end, the rule should be simple: you work for the Crown, you keep the title. You don’t, you don’t. Charles and William need to make that call. »
