Meningitis Outbreak Warning: ‘Sporadic Cases’ Beyond Kent | UK | News

Health officials studying the Canterbury meningitis outbreak believe they may see some sporadic household cases outside of Kent, the director of public health at Kent County Council has told a briefing.

Officials said secondary cases may affect people who were not infected at the nightclub, but caught the illness from someone who was there, speaking at a press conference in Kent on Friday.

Health chiefs warned that cases of meningitis B may continue to rise despite suggesting the « peak » of the outbreak has passed.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) confirmed two new cases on Friday, taking the total to 29.
