CNN paused for breaking Trump alert – and it’s a humiliating blow for President | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV

CNN anchor Erin Burnett shared a breaking alert with viewers today, in a humiliating blow to US President Donald Trump, as China has been « mocking » him with videos and memes amid the ongoing Iran conflict. An AI video from Iran’s embassy in China has been going viral, with the Beijing government’s strict censors allowing videos depicting Trump as « evil » and « dishonest » to spread online. One video of animated American eagles mocking a US-hosted security summit showed how Trump is « putting other countries into a cage ». “Relax, sometimes security comes with a little control,” an eagle in a suit tells the rest of the room.

CNN journalist Will Ripley, who is based in Taiwan, said: « As the war escalates, so does the trolling. President Trump’s prayer circle with religious leaders have been flooding social media. Censors are allowing a tidal wave of viral videos and memes mocking that moment in the Oval Office. »

There are also cartoons in Chinese media ridiculing the rising price of oil, and, according to the CNN report, anti-US messages are spreading across China on social media.

CNN says it’s just one example of how China is “seizing on the moment” to condemn the conflict which has been wading on since the end of February.

“Beijing’s heavy-handed government censors are allowing videos like this to spread, magnifying the narrative that President Donald Trump is evil and dishonest,” said Ripley.

The mocking from China comes as the President announced he was postponing a planned trip to meet with President Xi Jinping amid the war.

The trip was scheduled for March 31 to April 2 and would have been Trump’s first visit to China during his second term as President.
