Jordan Wright, 33, who was in ITV‘s The Only Way Is Essex as well as MTV’s Ex On The Beach, tragically died in a drainage canal near Bang Tao Beach, in Phuket, Thailand. His body was found in stagnant water, reportedly lying face down at around 12.30pm on Saturday, March 14, by a passerby who contacted the police. Ahead of his death, CCTV captured him running around « looking restless » outside of a nearby hotel.
Officers from Choeng Thalay Police Station were notified, and the Crime Asia Facebook page shared details which identified the body as a 33-year-old British national. A keycard from the Coco Phuket Bangtao Hotel was found in his pocket, with his iPhone 17 reportedly discovered on the nearby canal bank.
His body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for an autopsy, and investigators said there were no signs of struggle or physical assault.
Police chief Sutthirak Chuthong said in a statement: « The guest was identified as Mr Jordan Wright, a British national, whom the hotel had been unable to contact. A search of the room revealed no signs of forced entry or other irregularities. »
The chief added: « Hotel records showed that he had checked in alone and was due to check out on March 13, but staff reported that he never checked out.
« CCTV footage showed that he appeared restless and was moving back and forth in front of the hotel before leaving the area. His movements eventually led to the location where his body was later discovered. »
As news of the Basildon-born star’s death broke, tributes were paid by his loved ones on his social media.
His final post, dated March 6, showed an image of the reality star enjoying a glass of wine in an infinity pool in Thailand, alongside snaps from boat trips, scuba diving, and motorbike riding.
His former manager, Alex Shafiq, told the Daily Mail: « He was a very good-looking lad, with a great, wide smile. He tried TV for a bit, but DJing was his real passion; that’s what he wanted to focus on. »
The case remains under investigation until the official autopsy results are released.
The police station urged any relatives or friends to contact them if they have concerns about Jordan’s cause of death.
