Facing a torrent of bad press about its relationship with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Netflix has gone on the offensive — with its most senior content executive reportedly stepping forward to insist the partnership is alive and productive.
Speaking at the Next on Netflix press event, chief content officer Bela Bajaria batted away suggestions of a breakdown, pointing to a pipeline of films, television projects and a documentary still in active development with the couple’s Archewell Productions banner.
« We still have a relationship with them. We have movies in development with them. We have an amazing doc with them. They have things in development on the TV and film side. Deals come and go all the time, and we don’t renew so many deals, those just don’t get as much press for obvious reasons. There’s no juicy story there, » she is reported to have said.
Results harder to spin
The commercial record, however, is more difficult to dress up reports Deadline. Netflix seems to have quietly pulled its backing from Meghan’s As Ever lifestyle venture, and the prospect of a third run of With Love, Meghan looks to have been been shelved.
The second outing of the lifestyle programme — which arrived on the platform on August 26 — accumulated just two million views across the closing months of 2025, leaving it ranked 1,217th among all titles on the service for that period. A festive companion piece, With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, scraped into 1,015th place with 2.4 million views.
The pattern holds across the couple’s broader Netflix catalogue. Documentary projects including Live To Live, Heart of Invictus and Polo generated little audience enthusiasm. The commercial relationship has also been formally scaled back — what was once a comprehensive overall deal was restructured into a more limited first-look arrangement during 2024.
Projects still alive
However, there are genuine credits on the positive side of the ledger. The Harry & Meghan docuseries stands as the couple’s most watched Netflix project by some distance.
And the development slate retains substance: screenwriter Tracy Oliver is attached to adapt The Wedding Date, a feature film sitting under the Archewell umbrella, while a cinematic version of Carley Fortune’s novel Meet Me At The Lake is also progressing at the streamer, states Deadline.
Bajaria’s intervention is not new ground for her — she made broadly similar noises about the Sussex relationship in February 2024, suggesting the public defence of the partnership has become something of a recurring ritual.
