A Jewish school was rocked by an explosion in the early hours of Saturday. The incident occured in Amsterdam with police and fire officials quickly responding to the incident.
The city’s mayor Femke Halsema said she believed the blast was a « deliberate attack against the Jewish community ». However, no injuries have been reported. Police are examining camera footage that appears to show the individual igniting the explosive device.
Ms Halsema said: « This is a cowardly act of aggression against the Jewish community. Jewish people in Amsterdam are increasingly confronted with antisemitism. This is unacceptable. »
Security around Jewish schools and community institutions has been tightened even further, following recent attacks on synagogues in Rotterdam and in Liège, Belgium.
