Like many Premier League clubs, Liverpool’s owners possess the kind of fortune that earns them spots on annual wealth rankings. However, that’s just one aspect of the picture, with two figures within the Reds’ ownership structure adding a combined £225million to their personal wealth over the last 12 months.
The club has operated under Fenway Sports Group’s ownership since 2010, with the American entity overseeing two Premier League titles and a Champions League triumph over the past decade and a half. Notable minority investors have also come aboard during that period, most significantly NBA legend LeBron James.
The annual Forbes Billionaires List offers a glimpse into the planet’s richest individuals. Unsurprisingly, the list contains multiple names recognisable to those in the footballing world – including three with ties to Liverpool.
This year, the club is represented by FSG’s John W. Henry and Tom Werner, together with minority investor James.
Henry’s wealth has climbed £150m to £4.2billion.
James’ has grown £75m to £1bn, whilst Werner’s total has stayed constant at £1.5bn. That represents approaching £7bn combined amongst the three.

« He has also raked in more than $1billion (pretax) off the court, according to Forbes estimates, from his business ventures and endorsement deals with the likes of PepsiCo, Nike and Beats by Dre. »

Last May, Liverpool were valued at a staggering £4.2bn. The owners were nearing their 15th year of ownership at that point and they issued a statement commemorating this landmark later in the year.
« Liverpool Football Club means so much to so many people, and that’s something we’ve always been conscious of, » read a portion of the lengthy statement.
« This club is part of the fabric of the city and far beyond it. It connects generations and communities in a way that is truly special. Being part of that story is a privilege, and it brings a responsibility we never take for granted.
« Today is a day to look back with gratitude. But it’s also a reminder that our work isn’t done. There’s still so much more ahead of us – more to achieve, more to win, and more memories to make, together.
« And to you, our supporters – on behalf of everyone at Fenway Sports Group – thank you. Thank you for welcoming us, for believing in this team through every high and low, for telling us when we’ve fallen short, and for showing the world what it truly means to be part of Liverpool Football Club. You’ll Never Walk Alone. »
