McDonald’s fans who use the app may want to consider taking advantage of current prices on their next visit to the fast-food chain. From March 17, the ‘cost’ of some classic menu items, like the Big Mac and Chicken McSandwich, will go up.

People who treat themselves to a McDonald’s might be inclined to spend their rewards points soon, as the price of some classic menu items is set to increase. The fast-food chain has previously confirmed that the current tiered rewards system will change in the coming days.

Fans of the fast-food chain who scan their app at the checkout or place an order for delivery or collection via their smartphone gradually build up points in a digital wallet. Points can be redeemed for extra food, including burgers, nuggets, desserts, and drinks.

As of early 2026, the McDonald’s UK app, which hosts the MyMcDonald’s Rewards programme, has over 14 million downloads. McDonald’s serves approximately four million customers every day in the UK and Ireland.

The MyMcDonald’s Rewards lets customers earn one point for every penny spent at participating locations. People can sometimes earn bonus points for stacking app-exclusive deals with orders, such as adding specific items to their order.

The rewards system may ask for up to £10 worth of extra points for some items after the changes are put in place from Tuesday, March 17. A McDonald’s spokesperson says the restaurant chain is making the change to the scheme « to reflect rising food and supply costs ».
