The conflict in Iran, which began with US-Israeli strikes, has entered its 13th day, intensifying concerns that the world could be on the brink of World War 3.

For some, this is a shock, but others have been preparing for such a scenario for a while.

One of them is 40-year-old American Rowan MacKenzie, a doomsday prepper, who has now shared advice on how people can safeguard themselves and their families if the conflict escalates.

Among her possessions are so-called ‘go bags’ designed for the family to use in emergencies when they need to leave quickly, reports the Daily Star.

Rowan, who previously had a bunker, explained that her go bags contain four essential items, along with an evacuation plan for each family member. She said: « These bags have water, non-perishable food, a change of clothes, and a phone charger. I also have an escape plan for each family member. But that’s super sensitive information, so it remains top secret. »

In addition to having go bags, Rowan advised stockpiling at least 72 hours’ worth of essentials outside the bags, purchasing gold or silver, and keeping physical copies of documents rather than relying solely on technology.

She added: « Important documents online will mean nothing if the internet goes down. Make sure you’ve got a folder containing all important paperwork so you can access it if needed. Store physical copies in a well-hidden place that only you and your family know. Put them in a lockbox or waterproof pack. »

On finances, Rowan emphasised the importance of safeguarding money, recommending that half be kept in the bank and half in cash in case computer systems fail.

She said: « Protecting your money is of utmost importance right now. You never know when – or if – the grid will be cut off. If it is, your money is as good as dirt if it’s in the bank. Leave half of what you have in the bank and keep the other half in cash. Ideally, take out as much as you need to survive at least a week. »

Regarding survival preparations, Rowan revealed she had to give up her bunker, which contained around $423,000 (£316,211.54) worth of supplies, due to rising costs in the US, meaning she is now starting over.

Discussing how Americans feel following the latest Middle East conflict, she said many are apprehensive, believing the country may have provoked a powerful adversary.

Rowan elaborated: « Many Americans fear that we’ve provoked our most powerful enemy and put ourselves at risk. Every step we take for liberty abroad is met with setbacks at home. It’s more important than ever to be proactive about security.

« Plan for an air strike and stay hidden at all costs. Black out your windows and make your home look desolate. Staying alert is no longer a choice. We’re entering a very unstable time, and being prepared is the only thing we can control. »

She later warned that this may only be the beginning, stating that people « must be ready for whatever comes next. »
