Donald Trump’s rally in Kentucky was interrupted by a medical emergency, which saw the US President ask if there was a doctor among the crowd to help an elderly supporter. An elderly member of the audience standing behind Mr Trump began to sway and appeared unwell.
Other supporters stepped aside to allow her to steady herself on the barrier, but after a few moments, she seemed to lose consciousness and was assisted to the floor. Unaware of what was developing behind him, Mr Trump continued his speech. At the time he was criticising California Governor Gavin Newsom, before being alerted to the situation by people shouting « medic, medic ».
Mr Trump turned and saw what was happening and said, « Is there a doctor in the house, please? » He told those rushing to the fan’s aid to « take your time… we have all the time. These people are great people. We have all the time ».
As medics arrived to assist, the US President added: « First responders are incredible, by the way. »
He then said to the crowd: « Wanna hear a song? Let’s see if the people backstage are listening to me. How about Ave Maria? »
