Rochdale shooting LIVE: Teen rushed to hospital as police swarm street | UK | News

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a shooting in Rochdale, with a teenager rushed to hospital with serious injuries. Police were called to reports of a shooting on Beswick Royds Street in the Belfield area at around 3.20pm.

Greater Manchester Police said a 19-year-old man has been taken to hospital with suspected life-changing injuries to his leg. Pictures from the scene show a large number of police cars and ambulances. Armed officers are also reported to be in the vicinity of Reservoir Street and Albert Royds Street in the Belfield area of the borough. In addition, an air ambulance and police plane have also been spotted in the area, residents have told the Manchester Evening News.

There are road closures in at Belfield Road and Reservoir Street.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: « An increased police presence is in the area whilst we look to determine the full circumstances which led to this incident.

« Anyone with information or concerns is encouraged to speak to officers at the scene or call 101 quoting log 2097 of 05/03/2026.

« More information will be provided once we are able to do so. »

Images posted on social media appear to show armed police at the scene earlier today. Photographs also appear to show vehicle debris scattered within the cordon, and a damaged black car within the scene.

Forensics officers have also arrived at the scene with the fire service in attendance within the cordon.

A large number of police cars, ambulances and armed officers in the vicinity of Reservoir Street and Albert Royds Street in the Belfield area of the borough have been reported widely on social media.

Data from flight tracking site Flightradar24 shows that a police plane was circling over the area earlier this afternoon.
