Catherine Tate joins theatre show about Abraham Lincoln’s assassination | Theatre | Entertainment

Catherine Tate has been confirmed as the titular character of the award-winning comedy production « Oh, Mary! ». The show will welcome the British comedienne to the stage at London’s Trafalgar Theatre from April 27, 2026. In this dark comedy she’ll play Mary Todd Lincoln – the wife of President Abraham Lincoln – in the weeks leading up to the assassination of the former USA leader.

The production has been described as having « razor-sharp one liners and the brattiest wig in the West End », showing off Lincoln as a « miserable and suffocated » heroine full of « unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires ». The Sunday Express previously called it « Outrageously outrageous fun ».

And it’s easy to see why. The 80-minute one-act play will examine the « forgotten life » of Mrs Lincoln.

Albeit, through the lens of « an idiot » – the show’s playwright Cole Escola.

From this April, the show will be on through to July, giving fans around four months to see the former TV comedy star on stage.

And tickets can be purchased now.
