US President Donald Trump has taken to his social media platform Truth Social to boast about the US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran.
Trump begins the video, saying US forces have hit « hundreds of targets » in Iran, including Revolutionary Guard facilities, air defence systems and ships across the Gulf.
He said: « Last night, all over Iran, the voices of the Iranian people could be heard cheering and celebrating in the streets when [Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s] death was announced. The entire military command is gone as well, and many of them want to surrender into saving their lives. They want immunity. They’re calling by the thousands. »

The US president added that he expects more troops will die during operations against Iran, but those « who made the ultimate sacrifice » will be avenged by « the most punishing blow to the terrorists who have waged war against, basically, civilisation. »
Trumps comments come as a British military base in Cyprus was targeted in a suspected drone attack, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed.
The strike came only houts after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer accused Iran of pursuing a “scorched earth strategy”, granting a requets by the US to utitilise British bases to protect both UK nationals and its allies in the Middle East.
Sir Keir said British forces would not be directly involved in the strikes, and the bases would only be used for the “specific and limited defensive purpose” of targeting missile storage depots and launchers being used to attack Iran’s neighbours.
More than 200,000 British nationals, including military personnel, are thought to be at risk in the Gulf as the Tehran regime launches further missiles at its neighbours.
