Commuters and travellers alike faced a major traffic headache on Thursday morning as a busy motorway was closed near Stansted Airport. The M11 was shut down southbound near the air hub, prompting queues up to junction J13.
The reason for the closure was not immediately clear. Cambridgeshire Police said in a statement: « Please note due to a temporary full closure on the M11 near Stansted Airport, this is causing significant delays up to junction 13 on the southbound carriageway. Lane 2 remains closed until further notice which will likely affect journeys on the M11 this morning. » There was also planned closures in place, which has contributed to the congestion.
