Donald Trump has reignited fears for his health after he was once again spotted with swollen ankles. The US president appeared on an episode of Josh Pate’s College Football Show over the weekend, with the sports analyst sharing a picture of the interaction on X.
The image shows the pair sat down at a table talking, and Trump’s ankles are exposed as his trousers have ridden up. Social media users quickly expressed their concerns as his right ankle in particular appears to be swelling over the side of his shoe. One person wrote: « Trump’s bulging cankles exposed by podcaster. SWOLLEN IN PLAIN SIGHT. » Another added: « And how do you know Trump is moving ‘faster than any President’? Because the videos I watch on YouTube show a slow moving, old man with swollen ankles holding onto railings. »
A third questioned: « Have you not seen pics of Trump? Also his ankles were swollen! »
According to the White House and medical assessments, Trump has swollen ankles due to chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), a common age-related, non-life-threatening circulatory condition.
This condition occurs when leg veins fail to effectively pump blood back to the heart, causing it to pool in the lower limbs.

After noticing swelling in his legs, the US President was evaluated by the White House Medical Unit « out of an abundance of caution », his doctor Sean Barbabella said.
He said Trump underwent a « comprehensive examination » that revealed CVI – a « benign and common condition ». Dr Barbabella explained: « Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease. »
Trump « remains in excellent health », he stressed, with tests also showing « normal cardiac structure and function ». The doctor added: « No signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness were identified. »
