Rapist asylum seeker praised by judge for being a good prisoner | UK | News

An asylum seeker who raped a homeless woman was praised by a judge for being a good prisoner. Ismat Ullah, who arrived in the UK from Pakistan on a student visa, was this month jailed for 15 years for the attack in a west London park in April 2024.

During his hearing at Isleworth Crown Court, Judge Fiona Barrie said the 28-year-old used “extreme violence” during the assault but praised him for his good behaviour while in custody. The court heard Ullah is an enhanced prisoner which grants greater privileges like extra spending money and more visits. The judge reportedly told Ullah that his time in custody must have been “difficult” for him and paid tribute to his behaviour during this.

According to The Sun, she said: “English is not your first language, and you have had some difficulties with your mental health.

“It is to your credit that you are using your time in custody constructively to improve your education and that you are an enhanced prisoner.”

Judge Barrie said the violence used in the attack was “extreme” and the victim has “recurring nightmares”.

“She cannot sleep,” the judge added.

Ullah punched his victim to the ground, then throttled her and raped her multiple times, The Sun reports.

Judge Barrie told Ullah he has not shown “any remorse” and that he continues to see himself as “the unwilling victim”.
