For the bargain offer of £2, you could find yourself jetting off to France or Spain with British Airways – but there’s a catch. The airline recently launched two budget-friendly routes to Madrid and Toulon, Saint-Tropez for early summer 2026.

For less than the price of a cup of tea, you could find yourself wandering among the Baroque brick buildings and drinking Tinto de Verano in the austere Spanish capital, before flying to the southern French seaside to hop on a cable car and top up your tan.

Available to book now for May holidays, these cheap as chips flights depart from and return to London City Airport.

However, you’ll have to prove one thing: this reduced rate will only be available to members of the British Airways Club. And the flights are Avios-Only, meaning you will have to use points to gain access to £2 flights.

For Toulon, a new destination for the airline, members must have 21,500 points, while a £2 flight to Madrid requires 28,000 Avios points.

Each of the two routes include 23kg checked baggage.

Since launching the Avios scheme in 2023, British Airways has operated a total of 48 Avios-only flights to destinations across the world, including Cape Town, Barbados, Málaga, Marrakech, and Sharm El Sheikh.

Colm Lacy, British Airways’ chief commercial officer, said: “These flights are always incredibly popular, and we’re delighted to give our loyal customers even more opportunities to enjoy the benefits of the British Airways Club.”

Adam Daniels, IAG Loyalty’s CEO, added: “While it’s not been too long since our last Avios-Only flight, we are excited to be starting the year by announcing another two flights on London City Airport’s hottest new routes to Toulon and Madrid”.

“With all seats onboard only available to book with Avios, the initiative shows the continued power of loyalty, and opens up greater redemption opportunities for customers during the peak summer months”.

As a result of increasing Air Passenger Duty (APD) and third-party changes, British Airways announced it would increase the price of its reward flights, affecting both Avios points and cash fares.  The updates were announced in the Chancellor’s Budget in November 2025.

A BA spokesman said: « Our Reward Flight saver flights continue to offer our members incredible value, but a combination of factors has left us with no choice but to increase our prices.

“We’ve given members as much notice as we could to help them plan ahead.”

Initially, economy seat passengers needed 50,000 points and £100 – which increased to 55,000 points and £120 after December 15, 2025.
