Jefferson County Sheriff confirmed an « active shooter » situation shortly after 5pm local time on Thursday, 12 February. They stated they were responding to the incident in the 32000 block of Ellingwood Trail in Evergreen, The Mirror reports.
Authorities have revealed that the shooter has now been discovered dead. Details about victims remain unclear as police continue searching buildings.
A post on X from the Sheriff’s account stated: « The shooter is down by a self-inflicted gun shot. Victim information is unknown at this time. »
A subsequent post added: « There are no known victims at this time. Deputies are still clearing the buildings. »
Local media outlets suggest the shooting occurred at a restaurant in the vicinity, though authorities have not yet confirmed this. Evergreen residents have been advised to stay away from the area.
